Meet Remus, owner
Raised on job sites. Built to do it differently.
Remus Todosan grew up surrounded by construction. His dad was a general contractor, and some of his earliest memories are of building alongside him. After years in the electrical trade in Seattle and Atlanta, across residential, commercial and service work, he founded Panther Electric with a clear idea of the company it should be.
“I started this company to do things differently: no cutting corners, no gimmicks—just honest, high-quality work and a smooth, reliable process from start to finish.”
Today it’s a family effort, built, in his words, “on faith, hard work, and a desire to serve others.”
The Panther storyReal feedback
What customers say about Remus and the team.
We were referred to Panther Electric, and I'm so glad we followed through! Our entire home in Seattle needed to be rewired, and the team did an outstanding job from start to finish……. Everyone on the team was kind, courteous, and respectful of both our home and the people in it. It kind of felt like having a few friendly, professional younger brothers over…..While rewiring a house was a big investment, their pricing was actually better than what my coworker was quoted for a smaller house with another company. After our initial walkthrough and quote with Remus, we felt confident in Panther Electric. His expertise was obvious from the start, and we knew we were in good hands.
Great service! Showed up within 24 hours to give us a quote for an EV charger. Very reasonable pricing and super knowledgeable and friendly. They installed immediately after I accepted the quote and their quality and workmanship was top notch. They left the area really clean and everything was flawless! Strongly recommend. Both Remus and Luke were fabulous!
Remus reached out to me almost immediately after my inquiry and was able to make it out the same day. He is a good, honest guy and knowledgeable and professional to boot! Honestly feels like your buddy came over and is telling you what he would do if he were you, you instantly feel like you’re in good hands. He fixed my issue while keeping me apprised to what he was doing along the way. Additionally, he gave me very reasonable quotes to correct poor work done by a previous contractor. 100/10 - will definitely work with Remus in the future.

Five utilities, two permit offices, one plan.
Between Tacoma and Seattle the rules change from one town to the next. Tacoma and Seattle run their own electrical permits; most other towns go through Washington L&I. Power comes from five different utilities. Panther plans for those differences before the job starts, so nothing gets held up at inspection.
The houses vary just as much: century-old North End and Seattle craftsman homes with knob-and-tube, mid-century ranches in University Place and Federal Way, and new builds on the plateau.
| Utility | Where |
|---|---|
| Tacoma Power | Tacoma, University Place, Fircrest |
| Puget Sound Energy | Federal Way, Kent, Auburn, Sumner, Bonney Lake |
| Seattle City Light | Seattle |
| Peninsula Light Co. | Most of the Gig Harbor peninsula |
| Town of Steilacoom | Steilacoom runs its own utility |

Straight answers
Electrical questions, answered.
35 answers on knob-and-tube, panels, EV chargers, generators, windstorm outages, permits and Washington licensing.
All 35 answersI smell burning near an outlet or the panel. What should I do?
If it’s safe to reach, turn off the breaker for that area or the main breaker, then call an electrician. If you see smoke or fire, get everyone out and call 911.
Don’t keep resetting a breaker on a circuit that smells hot, and don’t open the panel cover. A burning or fishy smell usually means overheating at a connection, device or breaker, and it needs a professional to find.
What does it mean if my home has knob-and-tube wiring?
Knob-and-tube is the wiring in many homes built before the 1950s: wires on ceramic knobs, through ceramic tubes. It doesn’t meet today’s standards, and replacing it brings the house up to modern safety levels and adds value.
The problems, in Panther’s own summary: it’s ungrounded; it lacks capacity for modern appliances; its cloth and rubber insulation turns brittle with age; decades of DIY splices often tie it into newer wiring; it was designed to shed heat into open air, so attic and wall insulation over it is a fire concern; and many insurers refuse it or charge more. Panther inspects and quotes rewires.
How do I know my panel needs to be upgraded?
Common signs: no open breaker spaces, breakers that trip or run warm, an old fuse box, a known-problem panel brand, or plans for big new loads like an EV charger, heat pump or hot tub.
A panel upgrade and a service upgrade aren’t always the same thing. Sometimes a new panel on the same service is enough; sometimes the service itself needs to grow. A load calculation tells you which.
What does a Level 2 EV charger need?
A dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the charger’s rating, a suitable mounting spot near where you park, and enough capacity in your panel and service.
Panther checks the panel and service first, then recommends the circuit and charger setup. Hardwired chargers allow higher charging rates on many models; plug-in units use a dedicated receptacle.
When should I bring an electrician into a remodel?
Early, during design, before walls are closed and ideally before cabinets are ordered.
Lighting layout, outlet placement, appliance circuits and panel capacity all shape the design. Panther works with homeowners and general contractors from the walkthrough on, and open walls are the best time to bring old wiring up to code.
